Little Blessings

Updated: Nov 23, 2019

"Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her. So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained. But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden." - Genesis 39:19-21 (NLT)

Sometimes I think of myself similar to Joseph... Well, I know that Joseph's time in prison was far more excruciating than my situation is, but I compare myself to him because I am also in a period of waiting just as he was. Joseph was wrongly accused of raping his master's wife and was thrown in prison because of it. Although the Bible does not give us the length of time Joseph remained there, many scholars believe it was anywhere from 2 to 10 years. Imagine being in a dirty, underground prison with little food an water for that length of time! It would be terrible! But what does this passage say? It says that God was with Joseph showing him His faithful love. What a beautiful sentiment!

Today, God blessed me at my job. I was told that I would be getting a small raise. Honestly, this raise couldn't come at a better time. It makes me remember that God is with me, just as He was with Joseph. It makes me confident that God is standing next to me at my machine, showing me His faithful love through it all. Although I don't know when my period of waiting will be over, I choose to have faith that God will deliver me just as He delivered Joseph so many generations ago, and that He will do it in His perfect time.

How is God blessing you today in the midst of your trial? How can I pray for you today?
